This Week in Golf – 9/22/2023
Twenty eight golfers descended upon Highfields Golf Club in Grafton on a glorious day for the Hackers and Duffers
annual outing.  The course was in great shape despite the recent rains.
Chris Neumann took the prize for the Low Gross score in the A flight with a remarkable score of 76.  Chris made three
birdies during his round, including the 11th hole, where he took the Closest to the Pin prize.  He also won the Long Drive
for the A flight.
Joe Shea thought he had a good chance to win the Low Gross A prize with his 82, but it was good enough to give him
the prize for Low Net in the A flight.  Joe had an eagle on the opening hole.  Two good shots put him close to the green
and he holed the third shot.  Second and third place prizes for Low Net A went to Eric Solomont and Bob Paquette,
respectively.
The Low Gross prize for the B flight went to Mike McElhiney, who carded a score of 100 even.  Steve Palmer took top
honors for Low Net B.  Alan Fraser and Sue Donovan tied for second and third.  Sue won the tiebreaker to earn the
second place prize.  Alan had to settle for third place.
Rich Geary made a birdie on the long par three fifth hole where he also won the Closest to the Pin prize.  Bill Meehan
made a birdie on the par three 11th hole.
Steve Schlehuber hit a wayward shot on the fourth hole that struck the rear wheel of the other cart in the group.  The ball
knocked the hubcap off the wheel and kicked back into the fairway instead of going into the woods.
