This Week in Golf – 5/31/2022
Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of the summer season, but despite the hot weather of the
previous day, it was a pleasant evening for golf.
Mike Nolan and Joe Shea both had scores of 42, which was the low score of the week.  Mike played the front nine,
while Joe played the back.  Relative to par, Joe’s score of six over par bettered Mike’s round by two strokes.
The low net score for the week was also shared.  Mike McElhiney and Carl Twomey each posted net scores of
two under par.  Sue Donovan’s net score of one under par was the only other sub-par net score of the week.
Mike Nolan made birdie on the par 3 4th hole when he holed a putt from 12 feet.  That was also good enough to
earn the weekly Closest to the Pin prize.
Two other birdies were made on this night.  Eric Solomont birdied the 18th hole for second time in three times
playing the back nine.  Jimmy Suau had his first birdie of the year on the par 4 7th hole.
We were saddened to learn that former Hackers & Duffers member Dick Reidy passed away in Florida over the
weekend.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Dick’s family and friends.
