This Week in Golf – 5/24/2022
The weekend’s hot weather moved out of the area and we had the best night for golf so far this season.
With a score of 5 over par 41 on the back nine, Joe Shea once again posted the low round of the week.
Rob Moran continued his good play this week, shooting a net score below par for the second week in a row.  This
week, it was a net score of three under par, which ties him for the Low Net A score for the year.  Rob sank an 18
foot putt for birdie on the par three 4th hole.  It was the only birdie of the week.
Although he didn’t convert the birdie putt, George Weigler hit it to 7 feet on the 8th hole to capture his second
Closest to the Pin prize of the year.
Since George Lewis had been using the cart path to his advantage for much of their match, Maria Spitzak decided
to follow suit on the 18th hole.  She avoided the water by hitting her drive straight up the cart path.  It rolled far
enough to reach the fairway.  For her second shot, she managed to get across the ditch by using the bridge.  Not to
be outdone, George followed her over the bridge with his second shot.
Although she was unable to play in her match, Norm Giannattasio didn’t let her broken collarbone keep her from
enjoying the 19th hole.  We wish Norma a speedy recovery and hope she’s back playing golf soon.
