This Week in Golf – 5/17/2022
Some quick rain showers moved through the area in the early afternoon leaving behind sunny skies and mild
temperatures.  They also left strong winds.
Four players tied for the low round of the week with scores of 44.  Rick Kilduff had his round on the front nine.  Carl
Twomey, Bill Meehan and Mike Nolan all accomplished the feat on the more difficult back nine.
Carl’s round gave him a net score of three under par.  That was good enough to surpass the Low Net A score for
the year, but was not the low net score for the night.  Peter Morlock and Ollie Bisson each had net scores of four
under par.  That establishes the new Low Net B for the season.
Six birdies were recorded this week.  Two of them belonged to Carl Twomey, who birdied both of the par 5’s on the
back nine, #12 and #18.  Bill Meehan and Mike Nolan each birdied #18 to halve the hole in their match.  Eric
Solomont also birdied #18.  Ivan Audouin had a birdie on the par 4 11th hole.
When Steve Schlehuber hit the par 3 6th hole with his tee ball, he didn’t think his distance of 30 feet would be good
enough to win the Closest to the Pin prize, but wrote it down anyway, just in case.  As it turned out, he was right, as
Carl Twomey claimed the prize with a distance of 24 feet on #17.
