This Week in Golf – 9/13/2022
After postponing the semifinal matches last week due to heavy rains, it looked like they might be postponed again
as thunderstorms were forecast.  The forecast improved throughout the day and the rains held off, allowing the
matches to be played.
The highest remaining seeds, Rob Moran and Ollie Bisson, faced Rich Geary and Sue Donovan.  The match was
a tight one, as the two teams played to a 20-20 tie.  For the second week in a row, Rob and Ollie won the
tiebreaker to advance.  This time, it went to the second hole to determine the winner.
In the second semifinal match, Steve Schlehuber faced Glenn Davis and Anil Narwani without his partner George
Lewis, who was away celebrating his anniversary.  Anil had the low net score for the week, with a net score of 5
under par to lead his team to victory.  Anil had a birdie on the par 3 14th hole, when he pitched in from off the green.
Anil's handicap has dropped to the point where he will replace Glenn as the A player for the championship match.
Anil and Glenn will face Rob and Ollie next week for the league championship.  Rich and Sue will play Steve and
George for third place.
The low round of the week belonged to Joe Shea, who posted a 3 over par score of 37 on the front nine.
Unfortunately for Bill Meehan, the weekly Closest to the Pin contest is only during the regular season.  Bill's tee
shot on the par 3 8th hole settled about a foot from the hole for a near ace and a tap-in birdie.
