The last week of the regular season was filled with tension as the playoff race would finally be decided. Most of

the matches had playoff implications. While the top four teams were secure, six tightly bunched teams were vying

for the last four spots.

In the first match off the back, the fifth place team of George Weigler and John Buscaglia faced Tyler Finnegan and

Maria Spitzak, who were in ninth place, just five points behind George and John. The two teams played to a 20-20

tie. It would be left to the remaining matches to determine if the two teams would make the playoffs.

Next off, Joe Shea and Steve Palmer took on the team of Jim and Mary Geary. Although Joe had the low round of

the week with a 6 over par 42, the Geary team earned a 27-13 win to pull even with Joe and Steve in the standings

on the strength of Mary's net score of 4 under par. Mary had a birdie on the 16th hole.

Meanwhile, on the front nine, Carl Twomey was the lone representative for his seventh place team against Matt

Morrell and Mike Healey, who was subbing for Nate Cartwright. Carl played well, with a net score of two under par

to take a 28-12 win. That put them into a three-way tie with Joe and Steve and the Gearys. Carl chipped in for a

birdie on the fifth hole, while Matt made a birdie in the conventional manner on the eighth hole. It also gave him this

Closest to the Pin prize.

In the last match on the back, Mike Nolan and Glenn Davis were hoping to hold on to eighth place against Ivan

Audouin and Eric Solomont. It was close, but Ivan and Eric took the match by a margin of 21-19. That would put

Mike and Glenn into a tie with Tyler and Maria, and the tie-breaker would give them the last playoff spot, pending

the outcome of the last match on the front. Ivan took 10 points in the match to secure the Aggie Trophy.

Bill Meehan and Peter Morlock would need a big win in order to overtake Mike and Glenn and they got one. Peter

had his best round of the year, posting a net score of 7 under par, which was the low net score for the week. Bill

also had a good round, and the pair took 28 points to knock out Mike and Glenn.
