This Week in Golf – 7/27/2021
It was a hazy and hot day.  A quick shower came and went as the groups were finishing, although some heavier
rains came much later.  After a week of mostly dry weather, the course had almost dried out.  There were still some
soggy areas, but most of the flood waters appeared to have receded.
Joe Shea had the low score of the week with a one over par 35 on the front nine.  Joe had three birdies in his
round, including a chip-in on the fourth hole.  His net score of five under par was tied for the low net score for the
week.  Joe has been on a roll recently.  In his last five rounds, his worst net score has been even par, even as his
handicap has been falling.
It isn't often that you shoot a sub-par net score and lose your match, but that's what happened to Steve Schlehuber
this week.  Playing alone, he shot a net score of two under par, but his opponents did better.  Rich Geary tied the
low net score for the week at five under par and Mike McElhiney had a net score of one under par.
Jimmy Suau had two birdies.  He started his round with one on the first hole and finished with one on the ninth.  On
the ninth, he holed his third shot from about 120 yards out.
With two weeks to go before the end of the regular season, the race for the Aggie Trophy appears to be down to
three players.  Ivan Audouin leads Joe Shea by two points, while Norma Giannattasio is two points behind Joe.
There is also a close battle for the last couple of playoff spots.  Just seven points separate the seventh place team
and the two teams tied for tenth place.
