This Week in Golf – 7/20/2021
Hot and humid weather returned this week.  The flood waters were starting to recede, but the course was still very
wet.  The thick rough made it hard to find balls, let alone play them.
Needing a last-minute sub for his partner Nate Cartwright, Matt Morrell recruited his neighbor Scott Simendinger to
play.  Scott, who also happens to be Norma Giannattasio's son-in-law, made an impressive debut by shooting the
low round of the week with a two over par 38 on the back nine.  Scott had a birdie on the par three 14th hole.
Rick Kilduff was one stroke behind Scott, with a 39 on the back nine.  That gave Rick a net score of six under par,
which was the low net score for the week and ties for the Low Net A for the year.  Rick finished his round with a
birdie on the 18th hole.
There were a few other noteworthy rounds this week.  Rich Geary missed tying the Low Net A by one stroke as he
had a net score of five under par on the front nine. Matt Morrell shot 44 on the back nine, giving him a net score of
four under par.  Eric Solomont came in with a net score of three under par, while Mike McElhiney and Jimmy Susu
each had a net score of two under par.
Peter Morlock won the Closest to the Pin prize this week with a distance of six feet on the 8th hole.
