This Week in Golf – 6/15/2021
Although there was rain in the vicinity, it was dry at the course during the matches and afterwards.  All in all, it was
quite a pleasant evening.
Nate Cartwright had three birdies in his round to card a score of three over par 39 on the back nine, which was the
best round of the week.  Nate started quickly at the 10th hole, hitting the flagstick with his approach shot for a near
eagle before knocking in the birdie.  He would also birdie the 13th hole before finishing the round with another birdie
on the 18th.
Joe Shea was on stroke behind Nate, with a score of four over par 38 on the front nine.  Joe birdied the fourth hole
after hitting his tee shot to four feet, which was this week's Closest to the Pin winner.  Joe's net score of four under
par was tied for the low net for the week.
George Weigler tied Joe for the low net score for the week with a net score of four under par on the front nine.  After
making two straight pars on the seventh and eighth holes, George mentioned to his partner John Buscaglia that he
had a chance to break the Low Net B score for the year, which John had set previously.  A poor tee shot led to a
triple bogey on the ninth hole, so John's score was safe for another week.  If George continues his good play, he'll
reclaim the A position before long.
Steve Schlehuber had some good fortune on the eighth hole.  His tee ball looked to be short, but barely cleared the
water, hit the rocks and bounced onto the green.  His long birdie putt came up inches short.  He would get his first
birdie of the year on the next hole when he holed a putt from just short of the green.
