This Week in Golf – 6/8/2021
It was a hot and steamy afternoon.  Although the thermometer said it was 95 degrees, the humidity made it feel like
it was over well 100.  The storms that were forecast skirted the golf course and we only saw a few brief sprinkles,
which brought some welcome relief from the heat.
Alternate Tony Sigismondo had the low round of the week with a score of four over par 38 on the front nine.  He
opened his round with a birdie on the first hole and added another on the par three fourth hole after narrowly missing
an ace.  His ball landed a couple of feet past the hole and came back down the slope before settling six inches from
the hole to earn him the sleeve of balls for the Closest to the Pin prize.
Bill Meehan and Joe Shea finished one stroke behind Tony, as they each shot 39 on the front.   Bill started his round
with a birdie on the opening hole, while Joe had a birdie on the sixth.  A quadruple bogey on the eighth hole kept
Joe's round from being even better.
Three players tied for the low net score for the week with net scores of five under par.  Sue Donovan and Ivan
Audouin set the new Low Net A score for the year.  Sue birdied the 11th hole for the second time this year, while
Ivan had a birdie on the 14th hole.  Matt Morrell also had a net score of five under par.
There were quite a few low net score this week.  In addition to the five under par scores, Joe Shea and George
Weigler each had net scores of four under par, while Norma Giannattasio and Mary Geary carded net scores of
three under par.  Ollie Bisson, Glenn Davis, Rick Kilduff, Bill Meehan, Peter Morlock, Gail Nielsen, and Maria
Spitzak all had one under par net scores.  As it turned out, more than half the league had net par or better.
