This Week in Golf – 5/18/2021
While Memorial Day weekend typically marks the unofficial start of summer, it felt like it had come early as the
temperature surpassed 80 degrees.  The conditions must have been to the league's liking, as there were many
sub-par net scores recorded.
The low gross score for the week belonged to Nate Cartwright,  His score of 3 over par 37 on the front nine was
five strokes better than the next best score.  Nate had a birdie on the seventh hole.  His net score of three under
par was good enough to set the new Low Net A score for the season.
Norma Giannattasio was one of two B players to post a net score of four under par.  Norma's opponent this week
was Steve Palmer, who was wondering why Norma never did that last year when they were partners.
Jimmy Suau also had a net score of four under par.  His partner, Sue Donovan, had a net score of two under par.
Their opponents, Rick Kilduff and Anil Narwani, each shot net even par and probably would have won their match
if they had been playing anyone else.
Rounding out the sub-par net scores, Russ Doucette and Greg Martinez came in with net scores of three under
par.
Joe Shea had the Closest to the Pin this week, with a distance of 3 feet on the fourth hole.  His birdie putt caught a
lot of the hole, but would not go down.
Bill Meehan birdied the 18th hole for the second week in a row.  He needed the birdie to halve the hole.
Glenn Davis had an adventurous route to his birdie on the 13th hole.  He pulled his drive to the left and played his
second shot through the trees.  It barely cleared the bunker before settling about seven feet from the hole.  He
would go on to make the putt.
