This Week in Golf – 5/11/2021
It was another pleasant evening.  Although it was sunny, a strong breeze made it feel cooler, especially as the
sun started to go down.
Mike Nolan had the low round of the week with a score of 42 on the front nine.  He was eight strokes over par for
the round with five bogeys and a triple bogey on the eighth hole.  Mike's net score of two under par was tied for
the low net score for the week and set the new mark for Low Net A for the year.
Russ Doucette also had a net score of two under par to tie Mike for low net for the week.  Russ's partner, Steve
Schlehuber was one of two others to post a sub-par net score.  Both Steve and Mike McElhiney had net scores
of one under par.
George Weigler won the Closest to the Pin prize this week. He was eight feet below the hole on the 14th hole.
Not wanting to risk going past the hole and leaving a tricky downhill par putt, he left the birdie putt short.  He did
tap in for his par, though.
After a couple of weeks without any birdies being made, there were three birdies this week.  All of them were on
par 5's.  Mike McElhiney opened his round with a birdie on the first hole.  Bill Meehan and Nate Cartwright
finished their rounds with birdies on the 18th.  Bill had a chance for eagle, but the putt lipped out.
