This Week in Golf – 9/17/2021
Twenty nine golfers made their way to Easton Country Club for the Hackers & Duffers Annual Outing.  Earlier in the
week it looked like it could be a wash-out, with rain in the forecast for the whole day.  In the end, it was cool and cloudy,
but the rain held off.
The low round of the day belonged to Dave Gustafson.  His score of 83 took the prize for the Low Gross in the A Flight.
Dave was one of just two players to have a sub-par net score.  The other was Ollie Bisson, who took the first Low Net
A prize with a net score of 69.  Carl Twomey and Eric Solomont tied with net scores of even par 71, with Carl earning
second place by way of a tiebreaker.  Eric took third place.
In the B flight, Steve Palmer took the Low Gross honors with a score of 99.  Judi Gray and John Buscaglia tied for Low
Net with scores of even par 71, but Judi won the tiebreaker to claim the top prize.  Maria Spitzak took third place with a
net score of 73.
Eric Solomont took the Closest to the Pin prize for the A Flight on the fourteenth hole and converted the putt for birdie.
Nobody in the B flight hit the green, so the prize was awarded by a random drawing of those who made the lowest score
on the hole, which in this case was bogey.  Steve Palmer came out the winner.
Dave Gustafson edged out Joe Shea by a matter of three inches to claim the Long Drive prize for the A Flight.  The B
Flight failed to find the fairway until the last group, when Peter Morlock accomplished the feat and took the prize.  Mary
Geary had the best drive among the ladies.
Joe Shea had two birdies, one on the seventh hole and one on the tenth hole.  Rich Geary had a birdie on the third hole.
