This Week in Golf – 8/4/2020
With Tropical Storm Isaias making its way up the east coast, it seemed unlikely that this week's matches
would be played.  The storm took a more inland track and the forecast improved, so it was decided to go
forward with the matches.  The skies opened up partway through the rounds and the golfers were pulled
off the course for about half an hour.  Once the rain passed, most players went back out and finished their
matches.
Rich Geary and Mike McElhiney were scheduled to play the course this week, so they got an early start.
They were finished with their rounds and relaxing at the 19th hole when the rains came.  Mike must like
playing in the wind as his score of 45 on the front was the low score for the week.
Steve Schlehuber and Eric Solomont both matched Mike's score relative to par with rounds of 47 on the
back nine.
The low net score for the week belonged to Norma Giannattasio, whose score of 50 on the back gave her
a net score of 4 under par.  That ties the Low Net B score for the year.
Sue Donovan won the Closest to the Pin prize this week with a distance of 11 feet on the 14th hole.  She
did not convert the birdie, but her partner Eric Solomont made one on the hole.
The course took on so much water that Glenn Davis and Rick Kilduff found a frog in the hole on the 9th
green after play resumed.
