This Week in Golf – 6/23/2020
Summer arrived over the weekend and with it came the hot and humid weather.  The 90 degree
temperature and high humidity were made more bearable at times by a cooling breeze.
Two players broke 40 this week.  Carl Twomey had the low round with a score of 38 on the front nine.  His
net score of three under par was also tied for the low net of the week.  Making his league debut, Tony
Sigismondo had a score of 39, also on the front nine.
Teammates Rick Kilduff and Glenn Davis each recorded net scores of three under par on the front nine to
tie Carl for the low net score for the week.  Despite that, they found themselves in a close match against
George Weigler and Jim Stead.  George and Jim each had net scores of one under par.  The holes were split
evenly, but Rick and Glenn got the four points for the net score to earn a 22-18 win.
Eric Solomont and John Buscaglia were side-by-side in the 18th fairway after their second shots, about 75
yards away.  Eric proposed a closest-to-the-pin contest and they agreed on the princely sum of one dollar.
John went first and stuck his wedge to about two feet.  Eric ended up pin high, but much farther away.  As
he approached the green, Eric handed John the one dollar prize.  John should have given it back after he
missed the birdie putt.
There was one birdie putt that was made, however.  Glenn Davis rolled one in from 5 1/5 feet on the
fourth hole.  It was also this week's Closest to the Pin award winner.
