This Week in Golf – 5/19/2020
After a one month delay, the 2020 season finally got underway with a practice round.  It was good to see
everyone again, although the face masks made it hard to actually see anyone.  We could not have asked
for better weather for the opener.
The scores showed that most of us haven't touched a golf club in months, although there were a few folks
who must have been sneaking out to practice.  The low score for the week was 45, which was recorded
by four players.  Bob Paquette, Steve Schlehuber and Jim Stead all accomplished the feat on the front
nine.  Meanwhile, Joe Shea carded his 45 on the tougher back nine, so his score is the best of the week
relative to par.
Judi Gray had the low net score for the week, with a net score of 2 under par on the front nine.  The good
news for her is that since this round didn't count, her handicap will not go down as a result.  The bad
news is that it also doesn't count for the "Low Net B" prize.
Glenn Davis had the only birdie of the week, with a 3 on the seventh hole.
Nobody won the Closest to the Pin award this week.  I'm not sure if nobody hit a par-3 green or if they
didn't realize that the contest was on.
