This Week in Golf – 7/23/2019
Rain pounded the course Monday night into Tuesday morning, but it had stopped well before the league
teed off.  The course was wet, with standing water in many places.  It was so wet that a large crayfish
was seen in the rough between the first and eighteenth fairways.
Despite the soggy conditions, there were some good scores posted.  Best among them was the six over
par 40 shot by Dave Gustafson on the front nine.  Dave put together six pars and three double bogeys to
make up his score.
Low net of the week was turned in by Glenn Davis.  His score of 47 on the back nine gave him a net score
of four under par.  That sets the new Low Net A score for the year.
Steve Schlehuber and Eric Solomont broke out of the tie atop the standings by taking a 32-8 victory in
their match.  Former co-leaders Mike McElhiney and Rich Geary stumbled a bit as they slipped into third
place, with John Buscaglia and Maria Spitzak moving past them into second place.
There's a three-way tie for the lead in the race for the Aggie Trophy.  Eric Solomont, Steve Palmer, and
Rich Geary have opened up a bit of a cushion over the rest of the pack.  Will one of them emerge as the
winner over the last four weeks, or will someone else overtake them?
Steve Schlehuber won the Closest to the Pin award this week with a distance of 12 feet on the eighth
hole.  This was Steve's second win of the season.
