This Week in Golf – 7/9/2019
The league returned from the holiday break on a glorious evening.  With warm temperatures, low humidity
and sunny skies, it almost seemed like it couldn't be a Tuesday.
Ollie Bisson had the low round of the week with a score of 44 on the back nine.  That gave him a net score
of three under par, which was the low net for the week.  Ollie is now part of a four-way tie for the Low
Net A for the year.
A few of the B players also had net scores under par.  Sue Donovan and Maria Spitzak each had net scores
of two under par and Alan Fraser had a net score of one under par.
The Closest to the Pin award was hotly contested this week.  Steve Schlehuber had a distance of 6 feet on
the fourth hole, but his opponent Glenn Davis bettered that by six inches two holes later to take the prize.
Maria Spitzak spotted a turtle crossing the 16th fairway as her group played the hole.  It seemed that it
was out of harm's way as everyone managed to hit past the turtle without incident, but Maria's third shot
struck a tree and ricocheted backwards into the fairway in the direction of the turtle.  Fortunately, the
turtle was moving faster than some of our golfers and the ball missed it.
