This Week in Golf – 6/18/2109
Once again, rain threatened to cancel league play, but the heaviest precipitation stayed away.  Most of the
evening it was just intermittent drizzle, but there were short periods of steady light rain.  At least it was
warm.
Carl Twomey's round of 45 on the front nine was the low round of the week.  Bill Meehan had a 46 on the
back nine, which was one stroke better relative to par.
Bill's partner Alan Fraser carded the low net score for the night with a net score of 3 under par on the
back nine.  That sets the new mark for Low Net B for the season.  As a reward, his handicap dropped by
one stroke.  Maria Spitzak also bettered the previous Low Net B with her net score of 2 under par on the
front nine.  Her handicap dropped as well.
Bob Paquette took the prize for Closest to the Pin this week with a distance of 8 feet on #8.  He was not
able to make the putt for birdie, though.
Sean McElroy had been using an iron off the tee for the first 8 holes.  On the ninth, he pulled out the driver
and piped a drive down the right side of the fairway.  An equally impressive second shot found the green
and settled about 10 feet from the cup.  His birdie putt had too much speed, though, and lipped out.
