This Week in Golf – 5/21/2019
After another postponement, we finally got a night where there was no threat of rain.  If not for the wind,
it would have been a great night.
Only a handful of players broke 50 on this difficult evening.  The best round belonged to Steve Schlehuber,
who shot a 47 on the back nine.  His net score of even par was also the low net for the week.  Steve
finished his round with a birdie on the 18th hole, as did hid partner, Eric Solomont.
Mike McElhiney actually had a lower gross score than Steve, but his 46 came on the front nine.  Relative to
par, however, Steve bettered him by one stroke.
Alan Fraser's chip on the second hole hit the flagstick and dropped in for a par.  He also hit the stick with
his chip on the third, but that one stayed out.  It did save him from a lengthy putt, though.
The wind must have made it hard to hit the green on the par 3's, as only Mike McElhiney recorded a
distance for the Closest to the Pin award.  His 25 feet on the 8th hole takes the prize by default.
