This Week in Golf – 5/7/2019
After a two week delay, the 2019 season finally got underway.  Although the forecast was a bit uncertain,
the rains held off until the rounds were over.
Dave Gustafson had the low round of the week with a score of 41 on the front nine.  His net score of 3
under par tied for the low net score for the week and sets the early target for the Low Net A prize.
Dave's partner, Jim Stead, tied with Rich Geary for the low net score among the B players with net scores
of even par.  Both rounds were on the front nine.  Rich managed to take all 18 points in his match.
Steve Schlehuber had two birdies in his round - one on the par 4 11th hole and one on the par 3 14th
hole.  He came within 10 inches of an ace on the 14th, but that was good enough for the Closest to the
Pin award for the week.  Steve also tied Dave for the low net score for the week and Low Net A for the
year.
George Weigler had a bit of good fortune on the 11th hole.  He hit a low slice off the tee that skipped
across the water, hit a tree and bounced back to the fairway.  His luck ran out, though, as his second shot
found the woods.  He would end up making a 7, but that was good enough to halve the hole.
Glenn Davis gave an excited shout on the par 3 8th hole.  The first thought was that he had made a hole
in one, but it was just a par.  After struggling on the hole during the warm-up rounds, a par was worthy of
a celebration.
