This Week in Golf – 8/7/18
The string of summer weather continued with more heat and humidity for the golfers to deal with.  There
were quite a few players who shot better than their handicaps on this night.
Doug Sampson had the low round of the week with a five over par 40 on the back nine.  Despite that, he
was only able to split his match with Art Parker, who matched Doug's net score of three under par.
Jim Stead also had a net score of three under par with his score of 47 on the front.  That ties for the Low
Net B score for the season.  Jim took 14 points in his match and leaped into a tie atop the Aggie Trophy
standings.
Glenn Davis was one stroke better as he posted a net score of four under par with a 43 on the front.
That was the low net score for the week and matches the Low Net A score for the year.  His partner
Maria Spitzak also had a good round and the two managed to gain some ground on eighth place
George Weigler's drive on #13 somehow managed to squeeze through the chain-link fence and bounce
across the twelfth green.
Dave Gustafson took the Closest to the Pin honors this week with ten feet on #4.  That's the same
distance he recorded on the hole two weeks ago when he was narrowly edged out for the prize.
Bob Paquette had two birdies in his round.  The first came on #13 and the second came two holes later on
#15.  Carl Twomey had a birdie on the second hole to move back into the league lead.
