This Week in Golf – 7/10/18
After this week's matches, we have completed two-thirds of the regular season.  With just five weeks
remaining, the teams outside the top eight need a strong finish to make the playoffs.
There were quite a few low scores this week.  The best of the bunch belonged to Doug Sampson, who
turned in a score of 38 on the front nine.  His net score of four under par was the low net score for the
week and sets the new mark for Low Net A for the season.
Steve Palmer surpassed the Low Net B for the year with a net score of three under par on the front.
Steve also won the Closest to the Pin prize for the wee, with nine feet on the fourth hole.
Carl Twomey drained a 40 foot putt on the par five 12th hole.  Carl has now made a birdie in each of his
last three rounds.  Those three birdies give him the league lead.
George Weigler had a good round, with a net score of two under par on the back nine.  George had been
looking forward to his handicap going up, since he would be dropping one of his best rounds from last
season, but this week's round equaled the one he dropped, so there was no change.
The first place team of Steve Schlehuber and Sean McElroy lost for just the second time this year, but
still maintain a sizeable lead over Joe Shea and Steve Palmer, who moved into the second spot after a
strong showing this week.
