This Week in Golf – 6/19/2018
It was another picture-perfect evening for golf.  Monday night's thunderstorms ushered in lower humidity,
making for comfortable conditions despite the warm temperatures.
The low round of the week was recorded by Mike McElhiney who scored a 42 on the front nine.  That was
one stroke better than his partner, Rich Geary, and Steve Schlehuber, who each shot 43.  Steve's round
was the low net for the week with a net score of one under par.
Mike had a remarkable recovery on the ninth hole.  He pulled his tee shot into the trees near the 11th tee.
It ricocheted off the trees and fence and was never found.  After taking a drop, Mike put his next shot
just short of the green, chipped on and made the putt to save bogey.
After his round, Mike Morrill realized that he had lost his wallet somewhere on the course.  Fortunately, he
was able to find it by retracing his steps.
Doug Sampson reached the par 5 12th in two and had a makeable putt for eagle.  The putt came up short
and he had to settle for a disappointing birdie.  That ties him with Ollie Bisson for the league lead in birdies
with two.
Steve Schlehuber continues to lead the race for the Aggie trophy as we pass the halfway point in the
season.  It's no wonder that his team also has a comfortable lead in the standings.  The top teams are
beginning to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.
