This Week in Golf – 5/22/2018
It was cloudy with intermittent showers, but nothing compared to the deluge that forced the matches to
be postponed for a week.  The rain must be good for the grass, as the rough was quite lush.
Joe Shea had the low round of the week with a 42 on the front nine.  That gave Joe a net score of two
under par, which was the low net for the week.
Jim Stead must really like the 14th hole.  Even though he was playing the front, he managed to hit from
the 14th tee.  It was his second shot on the fifth hole.  The ball threaded its way through the trees and
barely cleared the water.  He was able to salvage a bogey.
The threesome of Steve Schlehuber, Dave Gustafson and Eric Bergstrom all managed to hit the fairway off
the first tee.  None of them hit the same fairway, though.  There was one ball in each of the first, second
and eighteenth fairways.
Kevin Richman had the only birdie of the week with a three on the second hole.  His partner Doug Sampson
had a chance from four and a half feet on the fourth, but settled for par.  It was the Closest to the Pin,
however, so het gets a sleeve of balls to console him.
