This Week in Golf – 9/21/18
It was a cool and breezy day as the Hackers & Duffers Annual Outing took place at Trull Brook Golf Club in
Tewksbury.
Bill Meehan took the Low Gross honors for the A flight with a score of 86.  Bill's score was the only one in
the 80's and he beat his closest competitors by six strokes.
The Low Net score in the A flight belonged to Rich Geary, with a net score of 63.  He took the top prize
by one stroke over Ollie Bisson, who claimed the second place prize.  Third place went to George Weigler,
who was one stroke further back with a net 65.
In the B flight, the Low Gross prize went to John Buscaglia, who carded a score of 104.  John had a net
score of 70, which tied Randy Drapeau for the Low Net B score, but since John was ineligible to win both
prizes, the prize went to Randy uncontested.
There was a three-way tie for the last two Low Net B prizes.  Maria Spitzak, Greg Martinez and Steve
Palmer all had net scores of 73, so it went to a tiebreaker.  On the #1 handicap hole, the par 4 third hole,
Greg and Maria made 6, while Steve made 7, so Steve was eliminated.  It went to the third handicap hole,
where Maria prevailed to take the second place prize, leaving third place for Greg.  Steve got a sleeve of
balls as a consolation prize.
After all the outing and league prizes were awarded, league president Bill Meehan gave a special award to
Ollie Bisson to commemorate 50 years in the league.
