This Week in Golf – 7/27/2017
The forecast called for possible showers, but the matches went on as scheduled since there was no
lightning.  Light rain began just about the time the league teed off and grew steadier before finally
tapering off.
Two players broke 40 this week.  The low round belonged to Chuck Bourgery, with a 37 on the front nine.
His round included a birdie on the third hole, which increases his total for the season to 10.  His opponent,
Bill Meehan, carded a 38 with a birdie on the difficult fifth hole.  Unfortunately for Chuck, he was giving
four strokes to Bill.
Dave Gustafson had the low net for the week, with a four under par net score of 31 on the front nine.  He
moved into a tie for the Low Net A score for the year.
Kathy George captured the Closest to the Pin prize this week with a distance of two feet on the second
hole.  She was a bit too cautious on her birdie putt, though, as it came up just short.  To make up for it,
her husband Rick made a 40 foot putt for a par on the fifth hole.
Maria Spitzak could not buy a putt this week.  She had five putts that hit the lip and would not drop.  She
had two others that appeared to go right over the hole without going in.
Mike Mancini had his best drive of the night on his last hole, which was the fourth.  Unfortunately, it hit the
tree squarely and dropped straight down.
With two weeks to go in the regular season Eric Solomont holds a one point lead in Aggie points over both
Carl Taylor and Steve Palmer.  Rick Kilduff is four points back.
