This Week in Golf – 6/15/2017
After three days of oppressive heat, a front came through and cooled things off in time for Thursday.  It
was another peasant evening as we moved into the second half of the regular season.
Bill Meehan posted the low round of the week.  His round of 39 on the front gave him a net score of three
under par 32, which ties the Low Net A score for the year.  Bill had a  birdie on the fourth hole.
The low net score for the week belonged to Rich Geary, who posted a net score of five under par 30 on
the front.  Rich's round also included a birdie on the fourth.
Eric Solomont's fine play continued this week.  He shot below his handicap for the fourth time in five
weeks, even though his handicap has dropped six strokes over that time.  As a result, he takes over as
the A player.  He has also stretched his lead in the Aggie Points standings.
Jim Stead had more good bounces this week.  His drive on the fifth hole sliced into the trees, but kicked
out.  On the following hole, his tee ball has headed for the pond on the right of the green, but hit a rock
and bounced away from the hazard.
Playing alone, Steve Schlehuber watched his opponents John Buscaglia and Mike Mancini hit their drives on
the fifth hole into the water and woods, respectively.  He decided to play it safe and hit an iron off the
tee, but he followed John into the water.  After taking his drop, he followed Mike into the trees, but his
ball kicked out into the fairway.  Steve would take another penalty stroke after hitting his approach shot
over the green and into the thick brush.  He would finally post a score of 10, which was good enough to
split the hole with John, who made 9.  Mike won the hole with his 9.
