This Week in Golf – 6/8/2017
It was another perfect night for golf with no rain in the forecast, unlike the preceding days.  Heavy rains
on Wednesday left a few muddy spots on the course.
The low round of the week was a two over par 37 shot by Chuck Bourgery on the front nine.  Chuck had
two birdies in his round to move within one of birdie leader Rick Kilduff.  Rick had a birdie of his own to
maintain his lead.
Three players shared the low net honors this week.  Dan Lee, Carl Taylor and Eric Solomont each carded
a net score of one under par 34 on the front nine.  Eric's handicap continues to drop.  He may take over
the "A" position after next week if he keeps playing like this.
Mary Geary nearly flew her ball into the hole on the second hole.  It landed about 15 inches from the hole
but rolled out to about 30 feet.  A few groups later on the same hole, Corrado Pecci took the Closest to
the Pin honors with a distance measured at 16 inches.  Could it be that his ball settled in Mary's pitch
mark?
Walking up to the first green, John Buscaglia stepped in a mud puddle and his foot sank in nearly to his
ankle.  When he pulled his foot out, his shoe stayed buried in the mud.  He tried in vain to extract his shoe
without putting his foot down, but eventually had to give in.  He spent the rest of the round with a wet
sock.
Jim Stead had a bit of an adventure on the seventh hole.  His drive rattled around in the trees on the right
side of the hole before kicking out into the rough on the eighth hole.  His approach shot over the trees
found the green and he drained a 20 foot putt for the birdie.
