This Week in Golf – 6/1/2017
A brief rain shower cleared out quickly, leaving behind blue skies and mild temperatures.  It turned out to
be the nicest night so far.
While Chuck Bourgery's 40 on the front nine was the low round of the week, Joe Shea was just one stroke
behind with a 41.  That gave Joe a net score of three under par 32 and set the new Low Net A score for
the year.
For the second time in three sessions, Eric Solomont put together a great round.  This week, he managed
to shoot a 42 on the front nine despite taking a 7 on the third hole and an 8 on the fifth.  That gave him a
stellar net score of 8 under par 27 and the new Low Net B score for the year.  Eric recorded his first birdie
of the year on the sixth hole.
Steve Schlehuber knocked his tee ball on the second hole close enough to measure.  They used the
flagstick to measure, but were still unsure.  George Weigler stated that he was six feet tall, so they
compared ball's position with respect to the flagstick to George's height and it matched.  He was one
George away.  Unfortunately for Steve, Joe Shea beat him by six inches.  Maybe Steve needed a shorter
partner.
Both Steve and Joe made their birdie putts.  Dan Lee had two birdies in his round, as he birdied both the
fourth and sixth holes.  In all, there were nine birdies and one eagle.  The eagle belonged to Carl Twomey.
Carl reached the ninth green with two great shots and made a 20 foot putt for the big bird.
