This Week in Golf – 4/20/17
The 2017 season got underway on a cool evening and it was apparent from the scores that most of our
golf games had not awoken from the long winter slumber.
Chuck Bourgery posted the low round of the week with a 40 on the front nine.  His round included a
double bogey and three bogeys to go along with five pars.
The low net for the week was shared by Dan Sherman and Eric Solomont, each of whom turned in net
scores of one over par 36 on the front nine.  The two also set the early mark for the Low Net B prize.
John Buscaglia posted the Low Net A score with a net two over par 37 on the front.
Rick Kilduff and John Buscaglia recorded equal distances of 8 feet on the second hole to tie for the
Closest to the Pin prize this week.  Rick made his putt for birdie, while John did not.  John managed to
redeem himself, though, by sinking a longer birdie putt on the sixth hole.
George Weigler found himself playing solo against the tandem of Rick and Kathy George.  It was a tight
match, in which all three players posted identical net scores.  In the end, Rick and Kathy came away with
a 21-19 victory, proving that two Georges are better than one.
The last match of the night had Eric Bergstrom pitted against his partner from last season, Bill Meehan.
Since they were a twosome, they joined up with the three Georges and played as a fivesome.  Eric had Bill
on the ropes early, but Bill rallied to win the last three holes and take the match.
