This Week in Golf – 9/15/2017
Despite the dire weather forecasts, 30 intrepid golfers descended upon Kettle Brook Golf Club in Paxton
for the 2017 Hackers & Duffers outing.  It turned out to be a beautiful day.  The rain held off until well
after the festivities had ended and folks were driving home.
The low round of the day belonged to Chuck Bourgery with an 83 to take the Low Gross prize for the A
flight.  Chuck had a birdie on the seventh hole - a par five with water fronting the green.
Low Net in the A flight went to Dave Gustafson with a net score of five under par 67.  Bob Paquette and
Bill Meehan took the second and third place prizes, respectively.
No one in the B flight broke 100, but Steve Palmer came the closest with a score of 101 to win the Low
Gross prize.  His score gave him a net score of six under par 66, which was the low net score for the day.
However, Steve was not eligible to win both the Low Gross and Low Net prizes, so that prize went to Mike
Mancini and his net score of two over par 74.  Norma Giannattasio and Jim Stead rounded out the Low Net
B winners.
Mike McElhiney thought that his drive on the short par four thirteenth hole had gone into the brush on the
right side of the hole, but upon reaching the green, he found his ball on the putting surface.  He made
birdie on the hole.  Mike also made birdie on the uphill par three seventeenth hole by sinking a putt of
more than fifty feet.
